Piggybudget Version 1.0

1 August, 2009 by manuel | is it offensive?

I am pleased to announce that Piggybudget version 1.0 is available for download. Piggybudget is a FREE personal budget manager, which allows you to track your expenses against a budget.

Here is a screenshot:

Piggybudget is written in Java and requires version Java SE 6.0 to run.

This is the first public release. Go get it while it's fresh.

Hi Manuel, Just downloaded it and tried it on Ubuntu. First Impressions it looks great. Only thing that concerns me is the license. Do you have plans to release it as an open source project or thinking of making it commercial in the future?

Hi and welcome! Piggybudget will remain free and will not become commercial. As far as releasing it as open source it is something that could happen in the future but I haven't decided about it yet, it depends among other things on what comments and requests I get from the users.

There are other future projects I am considering and some of those will be open source (for example I may release the web framework I have created to build this website) while others may be more business oriented and may be commercial.
